CALLING TRITON EDUCATORS
UCSD Near You: Going to the Ends of the Earth to Study the Beginnings of Time Featuring Brian Keating, associate professor, Department of Physics, UCSD
Why study astrophysics from the South Pole? With an average annual temperature of -56°F, the South Pole's clean, dry atmosphere provides viewing conditions in some wavelengths that are equal to those in space. The research collected by UCSD's professor of physics, Brian Keating, may one day answer humanity's greatest mystery: How did the universe begin? Professor Keating will share his experience conducting research in one of the most inhospitable regions on Earth and how his astronomical research landed him on the pages of middle school science books.
