BE WiSE Education Program of the Oncofertility Consortium.
Oncofertility is a new field in medicine addressing the fertility needs of cancer patients and quality of life issues that concern young cancer patients.. The Oncofertility Consortium is a national, interdisciplinary initiative designed to explore the reproductive future of cancer survivors. It is supported by the National Institutes of Health Interdisciplinary Research Consortium Grant. This grant also supports outreach in science to Middle and High School girls in Chicago with Northwestern University, in San Diego (the BE WiSE Program) with the University of California San Diego and in Oregon with Oregon Health and Science University. This is part of an effort to help attract, prepare and retain girls in science majors and careers.
