Oct. 16, 2010 – From Fuel to Facebook. Turning Energy to Electricity Converting Energy toEveryday Electricity. –  Spend a day with engineering professionals. (Grades 8,9) Slideshow

Oct. 27, 2010 – College Application Essay and Interview Tips. Acing the College Essay and College/Job/Scholarship Interview Process. Techniques and tips to present your best self. (Grades 10, 11 and parents)

Oct 30, 2010 – A Visit to NOAA Fisheries Service. Southwest Fisheries Science Center, for abmorning of marine science workshops. (Grades 8, 9) Slideshow

Nov. 6, 2010 – Imagination and Math. Inspired and lively math challenges await you. Variety of interactive, creative group math activities.  (Grades 10, 11) Slideshow

Nov. 6, 2010 – Fossil Detectives. Learn some of the tools and clues that paleontologists use to learn about past environments. You will  have the opportunity to look at real fossil collections to learn about how paleontology works.  (Grade 8) Slideshow

Nov. 20, 2010 – Robotics!  Robosports and Mission Mars followed by an introduction to Botball. Students who attend invited to join the BE WiSE Botball Robotics Team. (Grades 8,9)

Nov. 20, 2010 – Diving physiology and conservation of Marine Animals. How scientists study the unique biological challenges marine animals face by spending much of their lives underwater. Techniques and data on conservation methods for marine animals will also be explored.   (Grades 11)

Jan. 22, 2011 – Blood and Bone Marrow. Science Behind Blood and Bone Marrow Diagnostics used to diagnose cancer.  (Grade 12)

Jan. 29, 2011 – Advanced Solar Engineering.  Advanced solar engineering studies! UCSD researchers are opening their labs to share with us the future in solar technology. Learn how nanotechnology, meteorology, etc. are working together to study and use our sun's energy in very powerful ways. (Grade 11)  Slideshow

Feb. 5, 2011 – Introduction to the Crime Lab.  Come see the real CSI. Spend the afternoon in the San Diego Sheriff's Crime Laboratory learning how science is used to solve crimes. (Grade 10) Slideshow

Feb.12, 2011 – Math Mania.  Have a blast and explore the world of mathematics through games, quizzes and hands-on projects. (Grade 8, 9) Slideshow

March 5, 2011 – Expanding Your Horizons Conference.  A day of exciting self selected science workshops on a College Campus. (Grades, 8, 9 and 10)

March 5, 2011– Safety-critical medical devices Start by learning about our systems: Our Infusion pumps deliver liquids and drugs intravenously; our secured drug dispensing systems keep drugs and supplies controlled to ensure patients get the right drugs in the right dosages. Our respirators provide life-supporting treatment for patients who can't breathe on their own (10, 11) Slideshow

March 19 – From Sewage to Seawater by J. Craig Venter Institute. Learn about how pioneering genomic sciences is being used to explore new biologically-driven sources of energy and to uncover novel ways to mitigate our negative impact on the planet. Slideshow

March 26, 2011 – Antarctic Ecosystems Brrr!  Remarkable creatures are found where winters are dark and conditions harsh.  We'll explore the organisms of Antarctic food webs and learn what makes them so productive. Students will conduct experiments. (Grades 10, 11) Slideshow

April 2, 2011 – A Fine Madness Celebrate your ability to "think outside the box"; and in doing so reaffirm that creativity is as important to the engineer as it is to the artist. The purpose of this event is to take a moment to celebrate engineering with university women who are passionate about making a difference and who consequently are pursuing engineering degrees (grades 10, 11 & Parents) Slideshow

May 3 - 31 Web Development for Students Basics of web design and how to best incorporate music, video, photos, and podcasts into their websites. (5 Tuesday afternoon sessions) (grades 8, 9)

May 21 Introduction to Digital Illustration and Photoshop: Drawing with Your Computer (grades 9, 10)

May 21 Moonwalking - The Science Behind Exploration of the Moon: Past, Present and Future (grades 10, 11)
