UCSD, Consortium of High Schools/Undergraduate & Medical Schools (CHUM)

Brief Description:
CHUM, Consortium of Communities, High Schools, Undergraduate and the Medical School, is a science outreach partnership between the University of California and: Gompers, Keiller, Lincoln, Memorial, National City Middle, and San Diego High. It provides hands-on science laboratory experience and training to those students who qualify. Stipends are offered starting at: CHUM 0 ( 4 hr/day-2 weeks Beginner Program) $200; CHUM I (7 hr/day-6 weeks) $750; CHUM II (8 hr/day-8 weeks) $1500; CHUM III (lab intern placements-8 hr/day-8 weeks) $1500. It also provides teachers with training to upgrade to prevailing teaching skill requirements.
