Organization Profile:
UCSD's Division of Biological Sciences (http://www-biology.ucsd.edu/) is committed to encouraging all students, particularly those underrepresented in the sciences, to pursue science-related majors and careers. Science Matters, a series of video programs with supplemental curricular materials explaining important concepts in biology in the context of current research going on in the division, is available in both English (http://www.ucsd.tv/sciencematters/) and Spanish (http://www.ucsd.tv/sciencematters/spanish/). Undergraduate biology majors also serve as tutors to help middle school and high school students with course work and science fair projects (http://www.biology.ucsd.edu/bssa/). An on-going effort, spearheaded by the division, is the creation of a web portal that brings together information about all of the science/math/engineering outreach efforts at UCSD http://see.ucsd.edu/.
