Organization Profile:
The National Wildlife Federation has been a leader in environmental education for nearly sixty-five years. From our signature Backyard Wildlife Habitat' and classroom programs to our award-winning magazines and activity guides such as Ranger Rick and NatureScope, television show and films, NWF's dynamic education efforts reach out to the communities where children and adults live, work and play.
NWF education staff conduct teacher workshops, providing K- 8 instructors curriculum aligned with California content standards. The "Discovering Habitats" one-day workshop explores San Diego's wildlife habitats, the plants and animals that compose them, how they are threatened, and what teachers and students may do to protect them. The "Access Nature" one-day workshop uses an inclusive nature curriculum designed for use with students of varying physical and mental abilities. "Creating Schoolyard Habitats" is a K- 12 two-day workshop that shows how to create a natural habitat in a schoolyard, allowing students to study wildlife without leaving their school.
All NWF programs are designed to help people discover, experience and connect with the wild in our world. By providing educational experiences that are empowering and fun, NWF inspires people of all ages to make a positive impact on our environment in small and large ways.
