SMART Team visit to San Diego- April 5, 7 and 9, 2008! Are you interested in creating a SMART Team at your school?

Tired of teaching “Just the Facts of Science”?

Want to start teaching the “Process of Science”?

If so, the SMART Team folks from the MSOE Center for BioMolecular Modeling will be in town this weekend and early next week --- and they would be happy to meet with you to discuss the SMART Team Program.

SMART Teams are composed of you (the teacher) and 4-5 of your students. Your Team will work with a local research lab to design and build a physical model of the protein being investigated in the lab. The major goal of the program is to expose your students to the real world of Science --- as it is being practiced in a local lab. For more information, visit the MSOE SMART Team web site at www.rpc.msoe.edu/cbm/smartteams.

Local Teams will be forming next fall, to work with researchers at Scripps and UCSD. Training for teachers will be offered this summer in a 5- day, tuition-free workshop at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (July 28 - August 1), 2008 . Travel funds will be provided, along with two tuition-free special graduate credits.

If you would like to learn more about this program, contact Tim Herman at herman@msoe.edu or 414-331-5023. House calls (at your school) are available this Saturday, April 5, or next Monday or Wednesday, after school.
