2008 sanofi-aventis International BioGENEius Challenge

Judging Responsibilities

The sanofi-aventis International BioGENEius Challenge is managed by The Biotechnology Institute, the independent, national nonprofit organization dedicated to educating teachers and students about the promise, achievements and challenges of biotechnology. Fifteen high school students who have been recognized at the regional level in the U.S. and Western Australia and nationally in Canada for their research in biotechnology will compete on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 in San Diego, CA, for cash prizes totaling $20,500. Students will present a 10-minute summary of their work followed by a 5-minute Q&A before a distinguished panel of judges comprised of outstanding educators, scientists, community leaders and advocates for science education.

The only requirement of the judges is to be present at the San Diego Convention Center for the judging on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Judges are provided a complimentary one-day pass to the BIO Convention for the following day (Wednesday, June 18, 2008) and hopefully a seat at the plenary session for the award also on June 18th.
