Middle School, High School, and College Educators who teach anatomy, physiology, biology or human biology are invited to attend our March TeacherTECH Science Series workshop focused on the teaching of anatomy and physiology at the secondary school level.
Wednesday, March 26, 2008
4:30pm - 6:30pm
San Diego Supercomputer Center
Training Room
University of California, San Diego
Workshop Description:
This workshop will explore strategies to add a new dimension to traditional ways of teaching anatomy and physiology. The goal is to capture the interest of your students through motivation, association and repetition. This can be difficult as students come from a variety of background and it is often a challenge to motivate all students. This workshop can help! We will explore the learning process and critical thinking and present text and book based resources in addition to Internet resources.
The workshop will include an overview of the following using the skeletal system as a model:
* traditional teaching methods for anatomy and physiology
* the effectiveness of these traditional teaching methods
* a twist on these traditional methods using Gross anatomy, histology and clinical anatomy
* use of models and clinical websites to explore effective teaching methods
Please join us for an exciting and informative session of hands-on learning presented by Dr. Rafael Gutierrez, Grossmont Community College.
Registration is free. Space is limited. Please contact Ange Mason at 858-534-5064 or amason@ucsd.edu to reserve your space.
