SCIENCE IN THE MIDDLE workshops at the San Diego County Office of Education

Science in the Middle?

Do you teach science in grades 5-8? Interested in teaching strategies to engage all learners; science notebooking, standards-based investigations, just in time assessments of student understanding, connecting the use of scientific data with classroom learning experiences and more?

Then you should attend this summer’s SCIENCE IN THE MIDDLE workshops at the San Diego County Office of Education.

During the week of July 16-20, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm teacher workshops focused on supporting science teaching and learning in grades 5-8 will be presented by teachers from the PISCES and MSSELI projects. Each morning, an engaging inquiry experience for adult learners begins the day for the entire group and then breakout sessions for grade specific groups will provide strategies to support student learning in science will be offered. Information and content from the new Science Adoption instructional materials will be featured.

Materials, instructional resources and more for a minimal registration fee of $150 @ or if two or more from a school $100 @. Scholarships are available for teams from PI schools. Course credit will be offered. For additional information or questions contact Nancy Taylor at NTaylor@sdcoe.net
