Time: 8:30am to 3:00pm
Description:
These two workshops will teach you the basics of using computer mapping software platforms in your classroom. We will introduce you to 2 GIS software platforms, ArcGIS 9 and ArcGIS Explorer. We will have some fun with GPS technology and introduce you to creative ways to use satellite based imagery and real world scientific datasets in the classroom. Students today are intrigued and easily engaged with the use of spatial mapping tools. Learn how to tap into their skills and unstoppable curiosity by using digital mediums to create standards based curriculum. Join us to “Go Digital” and explore our world with the best in cutting edge technologies.
The intermediate workshop will focus on advanced skills of spatial analysis and allow you time to work on creating your own lesson plan. Our two instructors and technical assistant will be available to you to allow for plenty of one-on-one time and exploration specific to your needs and interests.
Course fee: Beginning GIS for Educators $145.00; Intermediate GIS for Educators $95.00; Both Workshops $210.00
