Seeking 7th grade life science teachers
BIOCOM and the San Diego Science Alliance plan to convene 15, 7th grade science teachers to assist with the development of a new, exciting program July 1-2, 2008 – “Science Education Speakers Bureau”
* Are you interested in inviting speakers from San Diego’s Biotech community into your classroom to enhance standards-based teaching?
* Are you interested in fine tuning your life science curriculum?
* Are you the kind of teacher who enjoys working with others to innovate and exchange ideas?
* Are you interested in earning a modest stipend?
If this sounds interesting to you, please submit a “Letter of Intent to Participate” including the following information by June 5, 2008:
INTENT TO PARTICIPATE: Science Education Speakers Bureau - Name - Home address - Email - School/District - # of years teaching 7th grade, # of years at your current school, # of students you teach - Recent professional development experiences - Your statement of interest indicating how having a visiting scientist in your class would serve to motivate you and your students. - Your statement of interest/need in acquiring content knowledge in a specific area of the Grade 7 Science Standards.
Send your Letter of Intent to Participate to scivapa@sdcoe.net by 4pm on June 5, 2008.
BIOCOM and SDSA will review all letters of intent and select the most qualified applicants. Selected participants will be notified by June 13 with specific details for the work party in July!
