4th and 5th Grade Teachers, Are You Implementing Newly Adopted Science Instructional Materials?
Join others, July 28 - August 1, 2008 for an intensive week long professional development institute that includes:
* Findings from research on effective science teaching and learning strategies for all learners * Science content, delivered for adult learners to support 4th/5th grade Physical Science Standards * Practical approaches to implementing newly adopted, science instructional materials in Physical Science * Strategies that bridge language arts and science instruction * Support for identifying conceptual development of science standards in instructional materials * Lesson analysis on instructional strategies for English Learners * Effective assessments in science instructional materials * Plans for developing a Professional Learning Community at participating school sites
School teams of 4th and 5th grade teachers are encouraged to attend. Participants commit to attend 40 hours of training and contribute to a Professional Learning Community at school sites.
